CEO Jassem Mohamed Al Zaabi said Yahsat’s first satellite will be launched in 2010
CEO of local satellite operator Yahsat, a large exhibitor at MECOM, said the show provides an excellent opportunity for furthering business relationships.
Jassem Mohamed Al Zaabi said the company is showcasing its satellite services, which will become available when their first satellite is launched in 2010.
“I think MECOM is very important for the whole telecoms industry in the UAE, especially given that it is held in the capital in Abu Dhabi and that the end users are government or cor- porate,” Al Zaabi said. “I think everybody is excited about MECOM.”
The CEO also said Yahsat is trying to capitalise on its system that is currently being built, by marketing its services at an early stage to government and corporate users.
“We are talking to other telecoms companies to make sure the satellite system we are building can complement
their networks and MECOM is a very important part of meeting industry representatives,” he added.
He admitted Yahsat was talking with other telecoms operators as well as multimedia organisation Abu Dhabi Media Company, to see how their services can enhance existing offerings.
