Video surveillance at the touch of a button

Visitors to the Ericsson stand at MECOM will be able to view and control a highly-intelligent and innovative video surveillance system using a mobile phone or other device.

The interactive display incorporates split screens for multiple cameras, as well as a traditional computer desktop, and allows users to search an entire library of footage to identify when a specific area of a surveillance image has changed.

For example, in the case of shoplifting, when checking if a specific item has been removed from a shelf, users can pinpoint part of the image where the item is located and receive image stills from exact moments in time when the scene changed.

Klaus Middeler, director of multimedia and system integration for Ericsson, said the video surveillance system was just one of many interactive 3G solutions for the home and business available at the stand, which are not usually as accessible.

“The beauty is you can show customers live what they would usually have on paper and would otherwise need a special installment at the customer side. Here you have one solution and everybody can see it,” Middeler commented. Another integrated solution is the Connected Home portal that controls all aspects of a home’s entertainment and comfort options from a touchscreen, laptop or television remote.

Users can select a specific room of a house and control TV, Internet, telephony, music, video-on-demand, games-on-demand, air-conditioning, lighting, surveillance cameras and even the curtains.
