Alex Shalaby, Hassan Kabbani and Tamer El Mahdy

In a major management reshuffle at Orascom Telecom, CEO of Egypt mobile operations Mobinil, Alex Shalaby has shifted to chairman of the board – replacing Naguib Sawiris in this role – and is also heading up Orascom’s business development department.

Hassan Kabbani, former CEO of Orascom’s Algerian subsidiary, Djezzy, now fills Shalaby’s shoes as president and CEO of Mobinil.

Meanwhile, Djezzy CTO, Tamer El Mahdy, has stepped up to the CEO mantle in Algeria.

Simon Collinson and James King

Motorola is boosting its marketing team in preparation for the spin-off of its handset division as a separate company next year, with the appointment of former BT Vision sales director Simon Collinson as director of marketing strategy.

James King from Samsung has also been appointed as Motorola’s European marketing director.

Michel Combes

Michel Combes will abandon his post as CEO of TDF, a privateequity- owned French operator of shared facilities and terrestrial networks, to run Vodafone’s Europe region.

Ihab Ghattas

Huawei’s head of business development in the MENA region, Ihab Ghattas, has been promoted to assistant president for the Middle East, based in Dubai.

Ghattas has almost 30 years experience in the region formerly working in various roles at UAE provider Etisalat.
