Du has launched the BlackBerry wireless solution to its mobile customers in the UAE

Mobile customers in the UAE
will soon be able to use Black-
Berry smartphones on the du
network and while roaming in
70 countries, the telecoms operator announced at the MECOM exhibition yesterday.

Du has signed a distribution agreement with Alcatel-Lucent,
a global end-to-end communications provider, to provide integration and service deployment of the BlackBerry wireless solution for voice and data communications.

Users will be able to access BlackBerry’s wireless access to email, Internet, organiser and other mobile applications that support business communications and productivity.

Osman Sultan, CEO, said offering the popular business tool on du’s network was part of the company’s ongoing commitment to intelligent solutions that provide convenience, competiveness and reliability to customers’ professional and personal life.

“Acclaimed as the leading wireless email device used by millions of customers worldwide, BlackBerry smartphones have it all, so it was a natural step for us to integrate the BlackBerry solution on du mobile
services,” Sultan stated.

“We understand that email access and office applications, while on the move, is becoming essential for business people and individuals, and with the launch of the BlackBerry solution we are bringing practical communication solutions to our customers and enriching our portfolio of integrated communication.” The BlackBerry solution offered by du will be available on enterprise and consumer postpaid lines and enterprise prepaid lines, with consumer prepaid lines to follow in the near future.

“By providing our customers with two plans – unlimited national and unlimited international, we have chosen to offer the most flexible package with unlimited email and Internet access within and outside UAE,” Sultan added. Devices initially on offer will be the BlackBerry Curve 8300, BlackBerry 8800, BlackBerry 8700g and the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 smartphones.

Customers will also be able to use their own current BlackBerry device, provided they are not SIM locked with other operators.
